In 1984, long time diecast and Matchbox collector, Bob Rusconi and his wife Carole, established the Automodel Exchange, which was to become Automodels Pty. Ltd. a few years later. Located in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta, Australia. Automodels has been serving the collectors fraternity for 12 years.

The model was packaged in plastic formers and the outer box was of the same dimensions as the Q1 style box. The model
was not represented by a photograph but by a gold line drawing on a black hackground.
